NEW INTERVIEW FOR TRANSYLVANIAN FOREST E-ZINE!!!

Ladyaslan

I was interviewed by Ladyaslan, her creds are below, and she asked questions about Duran Duran because she is one of their publicists...

Duran Duran to the Rock Hall Publicist · May 2010 to present · Cleveland, Ohio
I interview bands and artists of all kinds about the campaign to bring awareness and support to get Duran Duran inducted in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame~ (these questions may be funny to you guys out there, but I answered them)

LadyaslanDDTTRH: Do you think Duran Duran deserve to be in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame?

Transylvanian Forest Zine:
I think so, they been around for awhile now, and any band that has been through what they have, should. But then again, did Thin Lizzy get to Hall Of Fame? I mean, ALOT of bands have not made it, and I do not consider it important if any of them do because they are already "Legends", but idk, that is up to everyone to decide, so my answer to your question is, yes.

LadyaslanDDTTRH: Tell the fans about your zine: What made you want to showcase the bands you do? How do you scout your talent?
Transylvanian Forest Zine:

I usually do look for them, but now, I do not scout them, they scout me! hahaha but yeah, I did have to go around on myspace when it was good, and send bands messages a year ago. I get albums from all over the world, and from well respected underground bands as well. Mostly underground bands, and of all genres of the metal realm. I like to give every body a positive review, but you know, some albums do not hold my interest too long, but hey, what can you do. I do have a very wide variety of music I like. Its been around since last year the webzine, and I think its been a year now since I started the e-zine with Necrowulf (josh) this month and he has a lot of things to do lately personally, but he is still a member, just waiting to see if he has the time to do this. Other then that, Dracolord (Dave) does reviews for me, and so does my new reviewer Salvatore, I asked him recently to join up on reviews/interview for the e-zine. Download albums get overwhelming, and its been 2 months since I been back online, so it really hard now to get everything done at once, considering I have band(s) and all...

LadyaslanDDTTRH: What is your favorite Duran Duran song and video?

Transylvanian Forest Zine:
WILD BOYS video, and Mnemics cover of Wild Boys! and um, I havent seen too many of their videos... :/

LadyaslanDDTTRH: Tell us about the name of your zine? How did you come up with the name? Is there significance to it?

Transylvanian Forest Zine:
Josh and I thought of it, we had many names, and couldnt decide. Then we decided on Transylvanian Forest E-zine, and decided we cover all forms of metal, just so bands arent left out. I think its original, and Christophe the lord of logos will make a new logo for us shortly... S.P. of the band Ruho originally made our first logo, and its the one I use now.

LadyaslanDDTTRH: What contributions do you feel Duran Duran has made to the world of music and fashion and their philanthropist efforts in the past 30 yrs?

Transylvanian Forest Zine:
I am not the biggest Duran Duran fan in the world, and I know you feel obligated to ask these questions because you are supporting them, but as far as what they done in the past 30 yrs... haha I think they made many. Like I said I do not know a whole lot about them, but I do have Seven and the Ragged Tiger on vinyl, but I heard it was not there best. Oh well, maybe they could sign it, and then Ill be sitting on a lot of money! :)

LadyaslanDDTTRH: Tell us about your band(s) what genre of music do you play and how long have you been in the music scene?

Transylvanian Forest Zine:

Well, I am the back bone of the band called, Strings Of Distorted Doom, aka S.O.D.D., extreme metal is my game. I started it on my own 3 years ago around the time I was in Frozen Cadaver. (will talk about shortly) I am also the sole member for now, and founder of such a entity that is slowly progressing, and taking the world by storm! :) I yet to gig, and I plan to do a full length album, and much lies ahead for my NO 1# band. http://sodd-shadowcurse.blogspot.com/

I also got side projects I have fun with.

Close To Perfection is one I started with Necrosadik from Mexico, we work together online, and are wrapping up a full length album that should be out this May by RDL distro. Style is ambient, drone, doom, experimental, acoustic, electronic, its a nice blend of pure hate and sadness I think. Not a gigging band, strictly for our own liking of making this style of music. We started up, a month before I started TF e-zine last year, so lets say March. I think, haha http://www.reverbnation.com/closetoperfection

Frozen Cadaver is BEFORE S.O.D.D. and is a side band I started with Matyr - X after the departure of our 3 piece band 3 On A Meathook. We had a good run in 3OAMH I think, and then moved onwards to Frozen Cadaver, after our drummers departure. We never gigged, but recorded a demo tape, now destroyed, but we did what we could with 3OAMH... I was just a vocalist at the time, Steve guitar, and our drummer which I do not want to mention name because he does not deserve to be mentioned in this interview... Frozen Cadaver is a gore metal band. We delve in horror flick themes, blood splattered lyricism filled with violence, and b-movie horror samples. Its a good kick to the face I think, and if you like old school, Obituary sounding death metal, check it out. http://www.reverbnation.com/rapedbyadeadmansskull

I also have a side project called Grim Funeral Techno, its a mix of industrial / electronics / techno / dark ambient sounds, it was started last Halloween, I was bored that night, and I am almost done setting up for the 1st demo called GRIM DEMO I, and the GRIM FUNERAL TECHNO / SCHIZOPHRENIA split will be out March 15th. I am mostly working on other things, but Ill get back into the groove for that side band once I am done with Close To Perfections recording process for the latest album Purity Lost... Its always nice to have music to do that does not require instruments really, but I love playing guitar and writing songs. That is my joy, and these side bands are just outlets for me since I like so many other styles of music.

LadyaslanDDTTRH: How would you describe your zine and topics and bands you choose to interview? How would you describe what you do to new fans who have never read of your work before?

Transylvanian Forest Zine

I can describe it as a mix of underground band reviews, interviews, exclusives, and updates. Mostly bands of extreme metal caliber, and also artists that just have fun making fun music. I also do exclusives, and interviews for models, and other people involved in the metal realm. Nothing is really not brought up in a certain way, if I like your style, or you come off as a genuine person who wants to get their name out their, I like to help. I started the zine just because when my demos of S.O.D.D. where up on myspace, most ziners would not give me a chance. They say, hey, you dont tour, you dont have a bus, you dont have a drummer, you dont know this that and that, it got really annoying, and then I basically proved them all wrong. I am a man on a mission! haha I suggest fans of the underground, and metal scene to check out the zine, and I can tell if they are into it or not, depends really on your taste in music, and other subjects I post on the blog spot associated with the e-zine here.

LadyaslanDDTTRH: Tell us about your background….How long have you been making music and writing music reviews? How did you meet your partner in this crazy music/interview realm *Josh*?

Transylvanian Forest Zine:
I been involved in music since I was 12, and been in and out of bands since 16 yrs of age to now. I been in um, 5 or 6 bands before as a vocalist, but I think 2 of them I cant really count as bands because they were just fun, or never got anywhere. I also dabbled in other styles of music too, but I am happy with my band, and what side projects I do now. I have 2 secret side bands, coming up in the next months or so... summer, and from there on. I been making music self taught. I was in past bands as just a vocalist, but I like being more of a musician then just a vocalist. I want to pretty much learn everything I can musically in the realm of metal, be... multi-talented. I also been writing songs for, almost 10 yrs on paper. My best friend got me into it.

LadyaslanDDTTRH: If you could have a sit down with any member of Duran Duran today who would it be and what would be topic of discussion?

Transylvanian Forest Zine:

I like to ask John Taylor what it was like to open for The Clash haha back in the early days....
LadyaslanDDTTRH: If you could have your pick of one artist and one writer to collaborate with ( in your music ) whom would you pick ( dead or alive ) and why?

Transylvania Forest Zine:

Hard question...!!! Tomas Forsberg, aka Quorthon, the creator of Bathory! Why? because, Quorthon Is Quorthon haha He was the founder and songwriter of the pioneering Swedish black metal band Bathory. He is also credited with creating the Viking metal genre! He composed the music and wrote the lyrics on all of Bathory's albums!... period.

LadyaslanDDTTRH: How did you get involved with Transylvanian Forest E-Zine? Anything in closing you would like to share with the fans?

Transylvanian Forest Zine:

I got involved because I wanted to do something besides making music, and I am pretty sure I am ok at it. I really enjoyed this interview, and wish you luck in all your work. To fans, check out the posts at http://tfezine.blogspot.com/ and keep doing what your doing... support the underground, and help the bands out. That is all, and have a wonderful day! :) -D
